4 homemade jam recipes

When it comes to jams, you have two options: buy them in stores or make them yourself. However, if you want a healthier option, without chemical additives or additional sugars, your best option will be homemade jams. Making a jam is certainly easy and fun. In fact, once you decide to make one, you’ll wonder why you’ve never tried it before.

All you’ll need is to buy fresh fruit from your trusted supermarket or greengrocer. Of course, there are those who prefer to use the fruit they have at home to the point of spoiling. This is often the case with apples. It is worth remembering that, once ready, it is recommended that they be stored in glass containers, as the flavors will be better preserved.

To prepare your own jams, you’ll need a few ingredients: a little sugar, spices (cinnamon, vanilla, among others), a little water and, of course, the fruit. Below we show some recipes.

applesauce

We’ll start with this delicious apple and cinnamon jam. It’s super easy to prepare and very delicious. As we indicated earlier, you will only need:

Ingredients

  • 1 branch of cinnamon.
  • 3 apples (80 g).
  • 1 1/4 cup of water (300 ml)
  • 1 cup and a half of sugar (150 g).

Method of preparation

  1. Put the water and sugar in a saucepan and let it boil over low heat. Let the sugar dissolve little by little and let it cook for a few minutes until a syrup forms.
  2. Wash, peel and remove the center of the apples. Cut them into very small pieces and add them to the pan when you notice that the syrup is ready and it bubbles slightly.
  3. Place the cinnamon branch and cover the pan and let it cook for about 30 minutes on low heat.
  4. Do not leave the pan unattended, as the time will depend on the type of apple you use and the size of the pieces.

If you don’t like cinnamon, you can add vanilla instead. This applesauce can be served warm or it can be cooled and served with ice cream. Consume it however you like, there are no rules, except enjoy it.
