Delicious Sicilian Cannoli Recipe

A sweet and very appetizing little tube that surprises everyone’s palate. Prepare this cannoli recipe with peach jam, a real treat for your whole family’s palate. A delicious Sicilian-style sweet that everyone will undoubtedly love.

The  cannolo  is a typical Sicilian sweet prepared especially during the carnival season. It is a mass that rolls into a tube shape. The filling can be nutella, fruit jelly, ricotta or cake cream. There’s something for everyone, so don’t miss them!

Cannoli recipe with peach jam 

Ingredients

  • 200 g of butter
  • 1 can of heavy cream (250 mL).
  • 2 cups of flour (500 g).
  • Icing sugar for decorating.
  • Peach jam (to taste).

Method of preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 120 ºC.
  2. In a container, mix the butter, cream and flour until it forms a smooth dough.
  3. After kneading, form a cylinder about 10 inches long and 10 inches wide.
  4. After wrapping it in wrapping paper, refrigerate it until it hardens. The ideal is to leave it overnight.
  5. On a table sprinkled with flour, roll out the dough previously removed from the refrigerator. Cut it into circles about a foot in diameter.
  6. From each circle, remove eight triangles. Ideally, use a pizza cutter and have the triangular cuts be in the center or even within the circle.
  7. With a spoon, place the peach jam in each triangle and roll them from the widest part to the narrowest part.
  8. The sides must be closed to prevent the jelly from coming out.
  9. Place them on a tray, with a little separation between them. Put them in the oven at a temperature of 160 ºC, until they turn golden.
  10. To decorate, sprinkle some icing sugar on top.

Ingredients

  • 2 and a half cups of flour (500 g).
  • 200 g of butter
  • 1 jar of cream or sour cream (250 g).
  • 10 tablespoons of refined sugar (100 g).
  • Vanilla essence (to taste).
  • To decorate: icing sugar.
  • For the filling: nutella, peach or strawberry jam.

Method of preparation

  1. Put the oven to preheat to 120 ºC.
  2. Mix the butter, cream or cream, flour, sugar and vanilla in a bowl. You can add more flour if the dough is too soft.
  3. Line the dough ball with film and refrigerate until it hardens. The ideal is to refrigerate it overnight; at the very least, it should be refrigerated for two hours.
  4. On a floured table, roll out the dough and cut it into plate-sized circles. Using a pizza cutter, cut 8 triangles of equal size.
  5. Spoon the nutella filling, peach or strawberry jam, or whatever you decide to use to fill the cannoli.
  6. Close the sides tightly to prevent the filling from escaping.
  7. Place the cannoli on a tray, leaving a space between them, and bake them at 160°C until golden.
  8. To decorate, sprinkle icing sugar on top. You can also use syrup, caramel, etc.
Bitter chocolate

Cannoli recipe with peach jam 

Ingredients

  • 1 pinch of salt.
  • 1/2 cup of sugar (100 g).
  • 4 cups of flour (400 g).
  • 2 medium eggs (120 g).
  • 2 cups of peach jam (200 g).
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder (5 g).
  • 1 cup and 1/4 of creamy or pomaded butter (120 g).

Method of preparation

  1. Break one of the eggs and separate the yolk. Reserve.
  2. Put the oven to preheat to 120 ºC.
  3. Place the flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
  4. In a container, beat the ointment butter with the sugar until it forms a well-mixed and homogeneous cream.
  5. Slowly incorporate a whole egg plus the yolk that was set aside, previously beaten.
  6. Gradually add the flour until it forms a smooth mixture. Avoid the formation of lumps or changes; the folder has to be well integrated. Then take it to refrigerate for an hour or so.
  7. Once this time has passed, remove the dough from the refrigerator and set aside one third of the dough. Stretch the rest into a mold 23 centimeters in diameter, previously greased with butter and flour.
  8. Cover the entire base generously with peach jam.
  9. With the reserved dough, make strips, circles or hearts that will serve to decorate.
  10. Paint with egg yolk and bake at medium temperature for 35 minutes or until cooked and browned.
  11. Cool slightly to room temperature before serving.
