There Are Two Types Of Pain: The One That Hurts And The One That Changes You

Why not take advantage of the pain that some situations generate to learn and change? It may be a little costly to accept, but you can certainly get something positive out of the experience.
There are two types of pain: the one that hurts and the one that changes you

Are there types of pain? Or we can look at them differently.

People don’t come into this world with enough skill to manage pain. Despite being common in our life cycle,  no one has ever offered us a manual for surviving suffering.

Since we were children we vent with tears, but as we grow up we are told that crying is not good, that it is something that only the weak do. It is then that we begin to internalize, to remain silent, to hide.

Emotional education is not something that is taught in educational centers, and our parents are almost never very adept at getting us started in these areas, in managing frustrations, disappointments, disillusions…

It is us, through experiences, who must learn to survive. Now, there’s something to keep in mind: There are many types of emotional pain. There are some that hurt and others that make us move forward.

learn to accept adversity

There are those who deny pain in every one of its forms. Some mask physical pain with painkillers and others avoid emotional pain by pretending it doesn’t exist.

  • It is a mistake. Every feeling of pain is a symptom of an inner problem that we have to know about. Whether it is an illness, in the case of physical pain, or even a problem that has not been properly resolved.
  • Nor can we overlook the fact that emotional problems can add up and lead to physical pain, fatigue, or musculoskeletal problems.

How do we have to face daily adversities?

Types of pain that balance

Don’t be surprised if we say that it is necessary to learn that this aspect exists as soon as possible. It is vital then, that as children, we understand the following issues:

  • No matter how hard our fathers, mothers or grandparents try, they cannot take care of us forever, nor guarantee absolute happiness in every step we take.
  • Children must learn to manage frustration, and that you don’t always get what you want.
  • If we educate emotional maturity, we will teach children various strategies so that they are able to face the sources that can cause pain.
  • With a good self-esteem, they will overcome possible criticism from their classmates.
  • If they are independent, if they strive to achieve their goals, they will know that often achieving something is not without some suffering.
  • Knowing from childhood and adolescence that adversity is something that can appear more than we expect, will also make us realize that “this is a time to put us to the test ”. To demonstrate how capable we are.

We understand that it is not easy to make children see that life can be very complex at times. As moms and dads we always wish them the best, but we can’t overprotect or put them in a bubble either.

We have to offer, above all, an emotional education that favors maturity, so that they can better channel their disappointments, so that they know how to relieve themselves, like themselves more and surpass themselves each day in their search for happiness.

Pain is the most severe master

Types of pain that hurt

We wanted it not to exist. We would love to erase the pain and suffering from our lives and the lives of those we love, so that nothing disturbs the balance.

However, there are some principles that we must assume and internalize for our good.

Life flows and changes. Nothing is stable and we are part of the movement

There are those who say that in order to know what happiness is, one has to suffer first. Not at all. We don’t have to be so extreme.

People know very well what it is to be well, satisfied, calm and happy. It is a primordial asset and we know how to recognize it without the need to see its antagonist face to face.

However, there are some mistakes we can make at times. They are as follows:

  • To think that happiness and calm will last forever. We are not prepared to suffer losses, illnesses, to suffer disappointments… These are types of pain that are difficult to overcome.
  • Don’t forget that life has a natural principle: moving forward. And every advance irremediably brings change, whether good or bad.
  • We are all part of this vital movement. It is necessary then to allow yourself to take the most harmonic way possible, in the rhythm of changes.

We cannot resist certain types of pain

If we resist such common facts as getting older or accepting that someone might stop loving us, we will be stuck, persistent in suffering.

We have to cry and be upset. It is okay to be in a bad mood and feel these types of pain in all their intensity when something happens, but soon we must accept it.

And then be part of that river that is life, where change can bring good things again.

There are experiences that will leave us bruised inside, that’s for sure.

There are types of pain that don’t leave anyone whole, and that’s something we must assume.

The loss of a loved one, for example , is something difficult to accept, but little by little we can live with this absence. It will hurt a little less.

Now know that even if people do not arrive “factory prepared” for suffering, we do have innate strategies to face it: we are all excellent survivors, we all have strength.
